Founded on a basic principle, “Painting with a purpose,” Houston Art Center provides leadership,
training, education, and employment to the creative working class in
underserved communities; that do not have the resources to seek a professional career in art.
By providing artistic services to organizations, businesses, and partnerships we are able to
elevate the creative working class individually.
Thus bringing hope through art, providing a solution to poverty,
and enriching underserved communities.
We hope to provide artists who seek a professional career in art; a platform to unite,
gain hands-on training, employment and exposure through partnerships
with Houston Business opportunity and
other city and state entities.

We’re excited to present A Civil Rights Milestone: President Kennedy’s Visit with LULAC in Houston at the Houston Art Center (HAC).
After the inaugural exhibition’s success, HAC, in partnership with Gaselle Design, is proud to present
a reimagined version tailored specifically for South Houston’s community.
This new iteration offers a more intimate and interactive experience, designed to engage a diverse audience. While the original exhibit attracted over 1,200 visitors,
including 400+ students, the Houston Art Center’s version will be smaller in scale, but no less engaging, focusing on the local community’s needs and interests.

Today HAC is actively working in the greater Houston-Hobby community
developing the youth, and local artists, focusing on three aspects:
Leadership, Enterprise, and Community.
Leadership- In our School of Art, we offer an afterschool youth art program, high school internship program, college apprentice program, and adult art classes.
HAC focuses on developing the natural talent of the student, teaching the skill of airbrushing, and mentorship. We mentor artists in pursuit of their own professional interest, and connect them to other businesses,
organizations, and events for exposure and further opportunity.
Enterprise- We employ artists by offering artists services such as murals, promotions, company shirts, logo design for local businesses. In this initiative we can give artists hands-on training, experience, and provide job opportunities using their talent.
Community- We currently are working within the Houston Hobby area to bring transformation within the community, HAC is collaborating with archivists, historians, and designers to create museum-quality
exhibitions that connect young artists with their cultural heritage and community history.
By showcasing local archives alongside art, we foster pride, belonging, and a deeper understanding of their roots, while inspiring youth to preserve and share their stories. This exposure cultivates creativity and strengthens
their connection to both heritage and future aspirations.
